We are an in-house team - we DO NOT subcontract our work.
Why we differ- Other companies often engage a subcontractor through a solar salesperson, and you may find yourself in a frustrating “service cycle” if your system requires repairs or warranty service. The subcontractor might direct you back to the sales company, while the sales company refers you back to the subcontractor. This back-and-forth can make fulfilling warranty obligations difficult.
This is particularly frustrating because, while navigating this cycle, your solar system may be out of service, leaving you reliant on grid electricity.
While not all subcontractor installations result in this scenario, it happens often enough to be worth mentioning. We have great respect for skilled subcontractors, but if you’re curious about the differences between in-house installers and subcontractors, check out our article: In-house Installers vs Subcontractors: Which is Better?
What’s in the Fine Print?
The fine print in warranty contracts is crucial. Here are some key points to be aware of to avoid surprises:
1- Transferability
The warranty for workmanship and product warranties can be transferred by the original purchaser to any subsequent owners of the property where the system is installed.
2- Effectiveness
The warranty is only valid once all payments related to the solar system have been made and the title of the system has passed to you.
The warranty will no longer apply if:
• Anyone other than a Hills Natural Solar installer, or an authorised representative, repairs or alters the system.
• You fail to follow Hills Natural Solar’s reasonable instructions regarding system operation and care.
Exclusions
This warranty does not cover:
• Your existing electrical installation, wiring, or fuse box.
• Malicious damage or abuse.
• Damage caused by pests, vermin, or animals.
• Acts of nature, power surges, accidents, or other events beyond our control.
• Damage to your property caused by system failure.
• Alterations to your property necessary for the installation.
• Damage not reasonably foreseeable or outside the scope of Australian Consumer Law guarantees.
Australian Consumer Law Guarantees and Remedies
Our installation services come with guarantees under Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.
If there is a problem with the installation that is not considered a “major failure” and can be remedied, we will resolve the issue at no cost within a reasonable time.
For major failures or issues that cannot be remedied, you are entitled to:
• Cancel your agreement and receive a refund.
• Receive compensation for the difference in value between what was promised and delivered.
You are also entitled to compensation for any reasonably foreseeable losses caused by our failure to meet these guarantees.
Hills Natural Solar is not liable for personal injury or unforeseeable losses resulting from the above circumstances.
