Powerwall 3 is a fully integrated solar and battery system, designed to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy. Once installed, customers can manage their system using the Tesla App to customize system behavior to meet their energy goals. Powerwall 3 achieves this by supporting up to 20 kW DC of solar and providing up to 10 kW AC of continuous power per unit. It has the ability to start heavy loads rated up to 185 LRA, meaning a single unit can support the power needs of most homes. Powerwall 3 Expansions make it easier and more affordable to scale up customers’ systems to meet their current or future needs. Powerwall 3 is designed for fast and efficient installations, modular system expansion, and simple connection to any electrical service. Powerwall stores your solar energy for backup protection, so when the grid goes down your power stays on. Powerwall home battery continues Tesla’s mission and makes clean energy accessible to all, day and night. For most homes, you can receive whole-home backup to power your entire home during an outage and have energy independence by producing energy with solar. You can also reduce your reliance on the grid and save money on utility bills. Once installed, Powerwall can be monitored and managed using the Tesla app to customize system behavior to meet your energy goals.
When the grid goes down, solar energy will continue to power your home and charge your Powerwall. With Storm Watch enabled, Powerwall can communicate to the National Weather Service and prioritize charging in anticipation of severe weather. In the event of Powerwall changing status due to severe weather, you will receive a push notification from the Tesla app.
At night, Powerwall can provide your home with clean energy that you’ve generated from solar during the day.
If your utility offers Time-of-Use rates, you can use less expensive solar energy you’ve already generated to avoid electrical charges during more expensive rate periods.
